Landscapes
From wetland to woodlands, farms to forests, managed land is cared for and tended across the country.
If you imagine the British countryside, you’re probably picturing managed land. What looks wild and open is often carefully managed and tended by woodland rangers, riverkeepers, farmers, and conservationists. We’re proud to support our landscapes across the country.
Multiple values of land
There’s a tapestry of choice for every piece of land and we believe that every estate offers multiple values – whether that’s opportunities for outdoor learning, diverse habitats and rich environments, financial potential, or cultural and social value for local communities. We believe in a landscape-led approach to land management, which means no two estates are the same. From renewable energy sites to landscape recovery projects, and even including an archeological dig, we respect and celebrate our landscapes in their own right and as part of a wider view.
Our landscapes
We manage our land for the long-term and collaborate between our estates team, tenant farmers and external experts to define the best place, purpose and potential for our land management.
Environment and habitat
Our teams protect and nurture local habitats. Some exciting recent examples include welcoming barn owls, kingfishers and bullfinches back to our estate in Slimbridge, and sustainable woodland management using a horse logger for timber hauling.
Renewables
We are pleased to be supporting Qualitas energy with their solar energy proposal at Cuckoo Hill on the Little Dalby estate, helping create a development that advances clean energy, community engagement, and long-term care for the countryside.
